Swayambhunath (the self-existent) is a widely known Buddhist monument on a hillock, to west of central Kathmandu. The shrine is approximately 2600 years old and is still a glorious and eye-catchy for the visitors. Because of the presence of holy and tricky monkeys in the premises of the monument, the stupa is also known as the Monkey Temple. Due to the visit to this site by the famous Indian emperor Ashoka in 3rd century BC, this monument is a historical pilgrimage since ancient time. A common temple for both Hindus and Buddhists in the complex of stupa symbolizes  religious tolerance in Nepal.
Patan Durbar Square: Located in 7 Km south east of Kathmandu and founded in the 3rd century AD, Patan is the oldest among the 3 cities in the valley. Patan, historically known as Lalitpur  (city of fine arts), has fascinating Hindu and Buddhist monuments with finest craft since time immemorial. The royal palace square, surrounding shrines and courtyards are praiseworthy monuments during your trip in Nepal. The palace, a number of pagodas,  Shikhara style Krishna temple made of stone, classic craftsmanship, nearby five– storied Kumbheshwar temple and the golden temple are some of the main highlights of Patan. Though we can see ancient temples, Stupas and monasteries in the city, Durbar square consists of monuments from 16th and 17th century in general.

However, the present structure dates back to early 18th century. The main Shiva temple is most noted for its gold-painted roof and silver coated doors in each four directions. This holy site is also famous for open public crematorium. See the devotion of people to Pashupatinath, dedicated Sadhus- the holy men, post death rituals and the strange monkeys in the premises of the shrine.

DAY 3 :  AFTER  BREAKfast visit to medieval or very primitive  twins newar typical village BUNGMATI AND KHOKANA, where actual authentic peoples of Kathmandu live .
[ EXPLANATION OF BUNGMATI,KHOKANA, WE NEED JUST HALF DAY TOUR [AM TRIP]……Although Bungamati is just 10 kilometers from Kathmandu, the lack of easy access to the city and the rest of Nepal has spared it from much of the development and cultural degradation that has occurred in other places. On this full-day excursion you’ll admire the traditional architecture and rich culture that are reminiscent of the medieval era. You’ll see women, men, and children sitting in the streets or in common courtyards, weaving, chatting, playing, and working under the sun.As you walk along the streets, you’ll find dozens of masterful wood carvers and sculptors offering you handcrafted items at bargain prices. Most of them work from home and they may even offer you other articles for sale as well. The women spend their spare time weaving, knitting, and hand sewing. However, the village is probably best known for its woodcarvers, whose expertise in their field becomes readily apparent.Bungamati and Khokana date back to the 16th century or earlier, and both villages boast some very impressive monuments and ancient temples.

Bungamati is the birthplace of Rato Machhendranath, the patron of the valley, and the large shikhara-style temple in the village square is his home for half of the year. He spends the rest of his time in Patan. The process of moving him around Patan and to Bungamati and back is central to one of the valley’s most important annual festivals. In the ckowk around the temple you can see the heart of a functioning Newari town. See the many chortens and a huge prayer wheel, clearly pointing to the diverse religious traditions.Between Bungamati and Khokana you’ll find the Karya Binayak Temple, dedicated to Ganesh. The views from this spot are spectacular, and you can look out over the Bungamati valley to the foothills.Khokana is situated just north of Bungamati. It is a tiny Newari village with a reputation for its mustard oil and the local temple. The Newari who live here eke out a simple living off the land. You’ll find that no matter where you go in this tiny village, a large 3-storied temple will catch your eye. The temple is dedicated to the local mother goddess, Shikali Mai. A similar temple to the north-east of the village is used during times of epidemics.

and  day walk in thamel areaThamel is the tourist place of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. It is a full Wi-fi zone in Nepal.[1] Thamel has been the centre of the tourist industry in Kathmandu for over four decades starting from the hippie movement when many artists came to Nepal and spent weeks in Thamel. Even though Thamel has been referred to as the "ghetto" by some, most low-budget travelers consider it a tourist heaven.[citation needed] Thamel is distinguished by its narrow streets crowded with various shops and vendors. Commonly sold goods include food, pastries, walking gear, music, DVDs, handicrafts, and clothes. Travel agencies, budget hotels and restaurants also line the streets. There are many restaurants in Thamel that serve traditional and continental cuisine, although prices tend to be significantly higher than in non-tourist areas. Food hygiene is generally better, despite the overall lack of sanitation in Nepal.Thamel also acts as the pre-base camp for mountaineers. It boasts a wide range of mountaineering gear shops, foreign money exchange booths, pubs, clubs, and nightlife along with the numerous travel agents and guest houses. All in all, Thamel is home to a wide range of the Nepalese population for entertainment and employment purposes. On Wednesday, 28 September 2011, Thamel was declared a full Wi-fi zone in Kathmandu It is the first Wi-fi zone of [Nepal]
